About eMedicine

eMedicine was built by Dr Nikolajs Sorokins after 20 years in practice.

It started from a simple observation: a patient waits weeks, while free times sit in a doctor's calendar that nobody can see.

Nikolajs has spent twenty years in clinical practice. He knows what the day looks like when the clinic runs late, the reception phone never stops, and a patient with one question takes a slot that a five minute video call could have freed.

He looked for a tool that does not make a doctor learn a new system or do an administrator's job. There wasn't one, so we built it ourselves, starting with what actually gets in a doctor's way: the calendar, the payment, and one safe link to the call.

eMedicine is software for booking, video consultation and payment. The medical service is provided and sold by the doctor, not by us.

We are not a medical institution. We do not diagnose and we do not keep medical records. Prescriptions, sick notes and referrals stay in the state e-health system.

About us

The other one of us is Chief AI Officer at the SPR agency. Nikolajs and I have been friends since school, which is thirty five years now.

We have been making things together ever since. Small things first, then bigger ones, always the same way round: he says how it really works in life, I say how it can be built. This time the conversation started at a kitchen table, with the question of why booking a doctor still happens over the phone.

eMedicine is that same conversation continued. I look after keeping the technology simple and out of the way, he looks after keeping it fair to the doctor and the patient. Neither of us overrules the other.
